Tooth colored fillings
(composite restorations) vs. Silver fillings (Amalgam
restorations)

Composite restorations have a
more pleasing and natural tooth-like appearance. Tooth
colored fillings have the ability to bond to the tooth in
addition to providing an obvious cosmetic advantage.
Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain dental veneers are a beautiful way to correct
stained, chipped, or crooked teeth. By placing glass-like
ceramic porcelain on the surface of teeth, we can often
provide you with bright, straight, and natural looking
smiles. Porcelain veneer tooth preparation vary from
absolutely no drilling required to trimming the front of the
tooth slightly, about the thickness of a fingernail.
Whitening/Bleaching
Many
people achieve a whiter, brighter smile with our simple
whitening procedure. It’s safe, quick and inexpensive. You
can whiten only your upper or lower teeth, or your entire
smile. You can gradually lift stains through a convenient
at-home whitening process, using thin trays and gentle
whitening gel.
We offer one hour in office
BriteSmile and Zoom in addition to the at home NiteWhite
procedures.
Adult Orthodontics

Adults now can get the
cosmetic results they desire without spending years in
traditional braces. We offer clear Invisalign aligners for
those patients who do not want to appear to be wearing
braces. We also offer PowerProx 6 month braces. This
procedure uses ceramic, tooth colored brackets and wires
just like regular braces, but we achieve a positive cosmetic
result on the front teeth in about six months. We can
discuss the advantages and disadvantages of your particular
case when you come in for a free orthodontic consultation.
Implants
A dental implant is an
artificial tooth root that an oral surgeon or periodontist
places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge.
Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good
general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to
decay, periodontal disease, injury, or some other reason.
While
high-tech in nature, dental implants are actually more
conservative than traditional bridgework, since implants do
not require the adjacent teeth to be reduced for support.
Porcelain Crowns and
Bridges
Crowns
A
crown completely covers the tooth above the gum line and
protects it. While fillings just fill cavities and fit
inside your tooth, a dental crown will cover the entire
tooth and will replace the entire chewing surface of the
tooth. Some people call this a "cap." If a tooth has a large
filling, it is more prone to cracking or breaking. A crown,
especially if it has metal in it, will help protect a tooth
against breaking. Some people can break back teeth even if
they have small fillings or no fillings in the tooth—their
occlusion is that powerful.
Crowns are
made of gold or porcelain or a combination of both. The
combination crown has been the primary material of choice,
however the usage of all porcelain crowns are now rapidly on
the increase due to stronger porcelains being available.
These crowns look much more lifelike.
To place a
crown the natural tooth is given minor preparation or
adjustments. A temporary crown is attached. The dentist
makes an impression of the teeth and sends it to the
laboratory, where it will be used to make the new crown. The
client and dentist will decide on the color so that the end
result is a new tooth that should blend in perfectly with
the others. A week or so after the first visit, the
permanent crown is securely fitted. Normally, it will serve
its owner for life... Brush and floss as recommended by your
dentist or dental hygienist.
Bridges
A bridge
replaces missing teeth by fixing a replacement tooth (or
teeth) to the natural teeth at each end of the gap. Some
bridges have crowns at each end. With others, the
replacement teeth are stuck just to the sides of the teeth
beside the gap. The procedure is the same as making crowns.
A reason for placing a bridge is when chewing is difficult
or to prevent teeth growing crooked when there is an open
space between teeth. Bridges are often made of metal,
porcelain or ceramic materials. Porcelain crowns give the
teeth the most natural look.
